Audition Information
Auditions are open to all female-identifying and nonbinary University of Florida students!
A booking service is available below to secure your audition spot.
Please be available for the time of callbacks as well as your booked audition time.
How to prepare:
In your audition, you will sing one minute of a song a cappella (with no background music) that shows off your voice and who you are! Make sure to show us your range, vocal style, and performance ability.
Please choose a song that is contemporary, pop, r&b, or indie (no classical or musical theater songs) so that we can hear you in the genres that we primarily do as a group.
If you are beatboxing, please beatbox one minute over a song or a cappella (your choice!). Make sure to show off any cool tricks or sounds that you can do!
What to expect:
Round 1 of auditions will be held 8/30 from 5-9 PM and 8/31 from 3:30-9 PM.
At auditions, you will be met by the current members of the group. We will start by warming you up and testing your range. Next, you will show us how talented you are with the song that you prepared! The remaining time will be to get to know you, to learn about your previous music experience, and to tell you all about who we are!
What we look for:
On the musical side, we're looking for any and all voice parts. However, the most important thing that we look for in a new member is someone that vibes with our mission and who we are as a group!
Please use the booking service below to make your appointment (or click this link). If you have any questions, please contact us at theufsirens@gmail.com
We're so excited to get to know you!

We're so excited to get to know you!
After auditions, you will receive an email from us the night after all auditions are closed letting you know if you have been invited to callbacks!
Callbacks will be 9/1 6-9PM.
What are callbacks?
Callbacks are the second and final round of auditions. This is a time for us to get to know you more, hear you sing some more, and then have you learn one of our songs! Callbacks are all about seeing how well you fit into our group.
During callbacks, we'll start off by mingling and getting to know you all a little more! Next, we'll have everyone sit down and each girl will sing their audition song or a new song of their choosing! In final part of callbacks, you will be given a voice part and taught one of our songs by a current Siren to see how well you learn music.
After callbacks
After callbacks ends, we will let you know later that day by phone or email if you have made it into the group!
This is a lot of info, so if you have any questions please contact us!
We hope you're as excited as we are!

Who we are
The Sirens are a creative, progressive, and competitive a cappella group at the University of Florida that emphasizes vocal and professional development in a supportive group environment.
Becoming a Siren

While we are a badass, competitive group of femme fatales, we are just as much an incredible group of friends who love and support each other unconditionally.

Q: I want to book my audition now, but I'm not sure what my schedule will be like for that weekend in the fall!
A: We understand! Auditions times can always be changed later if something comes up, but we recommend booking as soon as possible to make sure you get a spot! Q: What kind of song should I sing? A: Find a song that is comfortable for your range and shows of your voice! Sing something that's authentic to you and your personality. Q: Can I audition as just a beatboxer, even if I dont sing? A: Of course! Just put together about 30 seconds of a song to beatbox to show us what you've got! |
Q: What if I don't have any previous a cappella experience?
A: That's totally fine! Our wonderful Music Director makes learning music super easy, especially if you've never done it before! Q: What's it like being in an all-female a cappella group? A: Being in an all-female group is an uplifting experience. As women, we support and love each other in a judgment-free environment, while helping each other grow in our music. Q: There are no more audition spots! What do I do? A: That's okay! We want to hear everyone. Send us an email at theufsirens@gmail.com and we'd be happy to set up a time for you! Q: I'm running late for my audition, what should I do?! A: No worries! Just send us an email to let us know :) |
